• Colors to launch ‘Dance Deewane 2’ on 15 June

    MUMBAI: Hindi GEC Colors is set to launch the second season of its dance reality show ‘Dance Deewane’ on 15th June. Produced by Dreams Vault Media and Presented by Colgate, the show will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm.

    With ‘Yahan Deewangi Nahi Kisi Ki Kam… Dekhenge Kis Generation Mein Hai Dum’ as its core philosophy, the new season will have fresh new talent from three different age groups competing for the coveted title to become this season’s ultimate Dance Deewane.

    The contestants will have to embrace challenge as the elements of ‘play, pause, and rewind’ will determine the contestants’ future in the competition. While ‘play’ will take them ahead in the show, the pause will give them another chance to impress the judges and rewind will land them in danger zone.

    MUMBAI: Publicis Media India has aligned Convonix and Resultrix under the ‘Performics’ brand. Pallav Jain and Sarfaraz Khimani will serve as Co-CEO’s of Performics India and will report into the Publicis Media India CEO Anupriya Acharya.

    Publicis Media has also announced a new Head of Global Partnerships role for India. Tanmay Mohanty will take over this new role in addition to his current role of Zenith India Group CEO. In this role, Mohanty will bring in a more strategic and holistic approach to global partnerships in India and ensure greater Groupe and client connectivity with partners such as Google, Facebook, Adobe and Microsoft amongst others.

  • Star Sports sells over 90% ad inventory for ICC WC

    MUMBAI: Star Sports has sold the bulk of ad inventory for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Even before the event starts on 30th May, the sports broadcaster has already sold over 90% of the ad inventory.

    While the earlier plan was to hold back 10% inventory, the sports broadcaster has decided to hold back only 6% considering the demand from advertisers. There are four co-presenting sponsors including PhonePe, Kamla Pasand, Havells and 10 associate sponsors including Dream11, Amazon, Uber, Byjus, MRF, and Policybazaar.

    “Sponsors will take up about 40% of the inventory and spot buys will account for the rest due to a large amount of inventory available,” said a source close to the development.

    MUMBAI: Digital content platform The Viral Fever (TVF) earns 40% of its total revenue from licencing content to over the top (OTT) platforms, a senior company official has said. The platform has also seen a 30% growth in its subscriber base across its YouTube channels.

    TVF is owned and operated under Contagious Online Media Network. The company also operates Girliyapa, The Screen Patti, and The Timeliners among others. It also owns a YouTube channel targeted at the Tamil audience called TVF Machi.

    “Licencing contributes about 40% of our total revenue. The whole digital space is at a nascent stage right now, there is a lot of demand and we are going to go big on licensing. The brands are also willing to work with us a lot. So the Brand and content licensing will fluctuate,” said TVF Originals head and chief content officer Sameer Saxena.

  • Dish TV's Jawahar Goel on TRAI tariff order and DD Free Dish

    MUMBAI: The rollout of TRAI's new tariff order made its presence felt in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2019. While the Q4 revenues of leading DTH operator Dish TV were impacted due to transition to the new regulatory framework, CMD Jawahar Goel said he believes the regulator may undertake the exercise of price rationalization that could result in higher uptake of TV channels.

    “The migration has given significant data insight to the TRAI and the price regime remains under consideration. We believe the TRAI may undertake the exercise of price rationalisation which should result in higher consumption of channels going forward,” Goel remarked after Dish TV published its Q4 result.

  • TRAI directs 3 Punjab-based MSOs for flouting tariff order rules

    MUMBAI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) issued directives to three distribution platform operators (DPOs) to comply with all provisions of its new tariff order. The regulator issued the notice to the DPOs after finding several violations.

    Based on an inspection of Bhatinda-based multi system operator MC Transmission, the authority found partial functionality of the website, non-availability of customer care centre and toll-free number and non-functionality of customer care channel in violation of the provisions of the QoS Regulations, 2017 notified by the Authority. The authority observed the same problems with two other Punjab-based MSOs Citi Cable Net and Chetak Cable Network.

  • Netflix to release 56 originals in June

    MUMBAI: It’s never a dull month when it comes to Netflix. After having a content slate of 62 new originals in May, the streaming giant is set to release 56 more Netflix original shows, movies, and specials in June.

    Among the upcoming shows, the blockbuster Black Mirror’s season 5 will land on 5 June. Other popular shows like Dope, Aggretsuko, and Dark are all back with new seasons as well, and the third and final season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones will also be released.
    According to media reports, the streaming giant spent $12 billion for developing originals last year. Netflix released 88 per cent more original programming in 2018 compared to the previous year. Moreover, the spending on original programming may reach $15 billion this year
