    MUMBAI: According to BARC India data, Kids’ segment is only three per cent of the overall advertising space on television, with GEC and News channels accounting for the larger pies. However, with Kids’ segment contributing 20 per cent of total viewership on television, there is a great opportunity for creators to produce localised content and advertisers to explore this category.

    BARC India head product leadership and excellence Elbert D’Silva gave a presentation at KAM Summit organised by Animation Xpress on 30th August. D’Silva spoke on the market trends, Kids viewership trends and data, NTO impact on genre, and industry growth.

  • ZEE Entertainment stake stale’s first tranche worth 8.7% completed by Essel Group

    MUMBAI: Multi-faceted business conglomerate Essel Group on Tuesday announced the successful completion of the first tranche of ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Limited's (ZEEL) stake sale to Invesco Oppenheimer Developing Markets Fund.

    On 31 July 2019, the group had entered into an agreement to sell up to 11 per cent promoter stake in ZEEL to the fund.

    Following the news of Faye D’Souza quitting and speculation of political pressure behind her departure, Times Network has said she stepped down as Executive Editor of Mirror Now but has taken up other responsibilities within the Network.

    “Regarding on-going speculation surrounding Faye D’Souza’s disengagement with Mirror Now, this is to clarify that Faye continues to be associated with Times Network and Mirror Now,” the company said.

    Zee Entertainment Enterprises (Zeel) has restructured its premium and regional clusters. The company made the announcement in a communication sent to its employees.

    In premium cluster, the company has aligned Zee Cafe SD/HD with &Flix SD/HD/&Prive HD. Living Foodz SD/HD has been integrated with Hindi HD cluster to strengthen and monetise the business opportunities in the premium segment.

    Tushar Bansal, Executive Cluster Head - Sales (Premium Cluster), will manage the integrated bouquet of Hindi HD/Living Foodz SD/HD nationally.

  • Are regional channels the best bet for advertisers post NTO?

    Regional content is the buzzword in television today. There has been a significant rise in its viewership in the last couple of years. As per 2017 (week 18-32) vs 2019 (week 18-32) BARC data, Hindi has grown by only 9 per cent, while Bhojpuri has seen a growth of 171 per cent in viewership followed by Gujarati (100 per cent), Marathi (72 per cent) and Bangla (39 per cent). Clearly, the Indian television audience has taken to content in their respective languages in a big way.

    MUMBAI: English GEC has become the top gainer in week 36 of Chrome Data Analytics and Media data. The genre grew by 8.93 per cent. In this genre, Comedy Central channel gained the highest OTS with 42.9 per cent in 6 metros markets.
  • BARC week 34: No changes in Bhojpuri, Marathi, Tamil, and Kannada spaces

    MUMBAI: In week 35 of BARC India ratings no changes were observed in Bhojpuri, Marathi, Tamil, and Kannada segment. Zee Cinemalu which was the new entrant last week got replaced by Star Maa Movies this week at fifth position in Telugu space.   
     
    Zee Bangla Cinema and Sony Aath exchanged their place at fourth and fifth position. Zee Bangla, Star Jalsha, Jalsha Movies were the top three Bangla channels. 
    Bangla
