  • Asianet launches 4K UHD hybrid STB

    MUMBAI: Asianet Digital Network Pvt Ltd launched Asianet Smart Magic Box, a hybrid set top box (STB) making it the first MSO in the country to launch a 4K UHD hybrid STB, powered by Android TV on April 29 2019. The company is also bringing to the market Asianet LED TV - television sets with SD, full HD and 4K smart TVs from 32” to 65”.

It was a market wherein smartphones weren’t as prolific, the broadband infrastructure was shaky and the digital payment ecosystem wasn’t established as robustly as it is today. Yet, what Archana and ZEEL accomplished at the time was rather significant.

  • RAM Ratings Week 15: Fever FM dominates in Mumbai and Delhi

    In Week 15 of the RAM Ratings, Fever FM continues to dominate in Mumbai and Delhi, while Radio City and Radio Mirchi lead in Bangalore and Kolkata respectively.

    In Mumbai in a universe of 12.2 million listeners, Fever FM took the top spot with an 18 per cent share, followed by Radio Mirchi with an improved 14 per cent share and Big FM with 12 per cent. Early morning, followed by mid-morning and night time band observed the highest listenership on total radio.

  • MIB grants Media Worldwide, IBC Tamil TV channel licences

    MUMBAI: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) issued two more TV channel licences in the month of April, with Media Worldwide Ltd and IBC Tamil Private Ltd being its beneficiaries.

    Media Worldwide Ltd and IBC Tamil Pvt Ltd applied for a licence under the channel name of Bong and IBC Tamil respectively under the non-news category.

  • TRAI directs DTH operators to stop migrating LDP subscribers until validity ends

    ​MUMBAI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), in a notice dated 1 May, directed the country’s leading direct-to-home (DTH) operators to ensure compliance with all provisions of its new tariff order for the broadcast and cable TV services sector. After issuing a directive to multi system operators (MSOs) last month, the regulator shifted its focus to four DTH companies - Tata Sky, Dish TV, Sun Direct and Independent TV.
