• Nikhil Mathur joins India TV as Head of Marketing

    Nikhil Mathur has joined Rajat Sharma-led India TV as head of marketing. Mathur joins the channel from Associated Broadcasting Co. Pvt Ltd (TV9) where he was the AVP Marketing and Events.

    Mathur comes with 15 years of extensive experience in marketing, brand and events in the media industry.

     

    Before TV 9, where he worked for close to a year and a half, he was the general manager- marketing with PTC Punjabi Network for over three years. Prior to that, Mathur has also worked with other brands such as Focus News, Zee News, CyberMedia and Jasubhai Digital Media.

  • MIB amends DTH guidelines, directs players to clear dues for fresh licenses

    NEW DELHI: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has made amendments to the existing DTH guidelines that will have a wide-ranging impact on the industry. The circular issued by the ministry mentioned that the existing licensees are required to apply afresh to get a license for providing DTH services. Further, the issue of fresh license to the existing licensees will be subject to their clearing all dues and fulfilling all obligations under the terms and conditions of existing license as well as those arising out of legal cases pending before various courts of law.

    The license will be valid for a period of 20 years from the date of issue of wireless operational license by wireless planning and coordination wing of the ministry of communications. License may be renewed by 10 years at a time. However, the license can be cancelled/suspended by the licensor at any time in the interest of the Union of India.

  • I was not the whole and sole of BARC, says Partho Dasgupta in bail application

    The 8th Esplanade magistrate court in Mumbai sent former BARC India CEO Partho Dasgupta to 14 days in judicial custody. He will be put up at a school before being transferred to jail as is the norm during the pandemic.

    Dasgupta has also filed a bail application, which will now be heard on Friday, January 1, 2021, by the regular court.

    His lawyer Kamlesh Ghumre argued that Dasgupta was CEO of the Broadcast Audience Research Council but there was a board of directors and a disciplinary committee above him.

    He was not the "whole and sole of the BARC," the lawyer said, adding that he could not have manipulated the rating system.

    In its remand application, Mumbai police had on December 28 told the court that Arnab Goswami paid ‘lakhs’ to Partho Dasgupta.

    Dasgupta is the 15th person to be arrested in the TRP scam case.

  • Asianet to telecast new serial ‘Koodevide’ from 4th January

    Kochi: Asianet is all set to telecast the new serial ‘Koodevide’ on 4th January from Monday to Friday at 8.30 pm onwards.

    ‘Koodevide’ focuses on the life journey of  Soorya, a vibrant enthusiastic and multitalented young girl.   • MIB directs DTH players to clear dues to get fresh licence

    The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) Wednesday issued amended guidelines for direct to home (DTH) operators in the wake of the union cabinet approving the amendments to the DTH guidelines.

    The MIB order states that the existing licencees are required to apply afresh to get a licence for providing DTH services in India.

     

    The ministry also said that a fresh licence will be issued to existing licencees subject to their clearing all dues and fulfilling all obligations under the terms and conditions of the existing license as well as those arising out of legal cases pending before various Courts of Law.

  • Sony Pictures Network India reports jump in net profit to Rs 975.97 cr in FY20

    During its 25th year of operations in the financial year 2019-20, Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI)- an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation, Japan,  recorded total revenue of Rs. 5846.20 crore as compared to Rs. 6309.90 crore in the previous financial year. The company witnessed a drop of 7.3% in the total revenue, according to Registrar of Companies filing shared by market intelligence firm Tofler

    The company has registered Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 975.97 crore for the year as against a PAT of Rs 346. 42 crore in the year ended on March 31, 2019. 

     

    The Company recorded consolidated revenue of Rs. 5961.10 crore and consolidated profit after tax Rs. 895.50 crore for the year. In the previous financial year, SPNI recorded consolidated revenue of Rs. 64,25.3 crore and consolidated profit after tax Rs. 4,14.3 crore for the year.
