• Global AVOD expenditure will reach $53 billion in 2025: Digital TV Research

    Mumbai; Global AVOD expenditure will reach more than double the amount recorded in 2019 by crossing $53 billion in 2025, according to Digital TV Research.

    Last year, the U.S. topped China as the world’s largest AVOD market, with an economic downturn leading to a 9 percent reduction in the key Asian OTT market. The COVID-19 shutdown and further economic problems will see the Chinese AVOD market contract again this year, with expenditure expected to fall by 11.4 percent in 2020.

    In 2025, the U.S. will generate $24.2 billion in AVOD revenues, followed by China at $9.2 billion, Japan at $3.2 billion, the U.K. at $2.8 billion and India at $1.7 billion.

  • TV Today Network discontinues Delhi Aaj Tak

    MUMBAI: As the pandemic rages on, channels are struggling to survive. Amidst this, TV Today Network announced that the transmission of its Hindi news channel Delhi Aaj Tak will be discontinued from the midnight of 30 June 2020.

    It is likely that the network is unable to sustain the channel with the fall in ad revenue. However, it did not provide any reason for the closure of its channel in its letter to distributors signed by senior VP distribution KR Arora. It is likely that the shrinking of the ad pie due to the pandemic is prompting companies to take such harsh decisons.

    MUMBAI: Tata Sky announced a new and improved offer on India’s next-generation Android set-top box Tata Sky Binge+, aimed at providing customers an upgraded and immersive content-viewing experience.

    Introduced at a subsidised rate of Rs 3,999, the new offer will enable subscribers to watch both linear channels (broadcast via satellite) and OTT content (via internet) from popular apps on their TV screen using a single remote.

  • SPN to discontinue AXN, AXN HD from 30 June

    MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has decided to discontinue the operations of two of its English general entertainment channels (GECs) with effect from 30 June. The major broadcaster has circulated a letter informing the shutting down of AXN and AXN HD.

    “With reference to the aforementioned subject matter, kindly note that we will be discontinuing the operation of our channels AXN and AXN HD, Genre- General Entertainment Channel (English) w.e.f the midnight of 30 June, 2020,” SPN distribution operation associate vice president Anuj Yadav stated in a letter.

  • SPNI to shut down AXN and AXN HD from 30th June 2020

    Mumbai: Sony Pictures Network India Private Limited announced the discontinuation of their English cluster channels, AXN and AXN HD.

    Medianews4u.com has accessed a copy of the letter that was written by Anuj Yadav, Associate Vice President- Distribution Operations, SPNI to all DPOs which read, “We will be discontinuing the operations and transmission of our channels AXN and AXN HD- Genre: General Entertainment Channel (English) w.e.f. the midnight of June 30, 2020.”

    These are indeed turbulent times for the broadcast industry and its really sad to see the end of a legacy brand from the house of SPNI.

    Delhi: TV Today Network’s Hindi news channel announced the discontinuation of Delhi Aaj Tak also known as Dilli Aaj Tak.

    Medianews4u.com has accessed a copy of the letter sent by the network to Delhi DPOs in which KR Arora, Senior VP, Distribution, informed, “We will be discontinuing the operations and transmission of the ‘Delhi Aaj Tak’ Channel (Hindi News Channel) w.e.f. the midnight of June 30, 2020.
